Ralph Loberger

I enjoy hiking because it gives me an opportunity to take an energizing break and get outdoors and become a part of nature. It provides me with a chance to experience the world directly and without a filter, and to rediscover the rhythms of the day and the seasons. Hiking is an unscripted experience where spontaneity is the rule. Even a trail hiked many times before will deliver a completely unique experience the next time that you hike it. There is also something primal and honest about walking through the woods. Being in the woods/mountains reminds me of what much of this world looked like hundreds of years ago and will continue to look like hundreds of years after I am gone and others are having the opportunity to enjoy this experience. I lose all sense of self-importance in this world. I realize how fortunate I am to be able to be a part of this amazing environment, if only for a while.”
