Monday Market Must-Knows: October 10, 2022

The Fed’s goal of slowing spending is starting to take hold. Retail Sales have been on a downward drift, meaning we are not spending, and the economy is not growing. This could create layoffs and put negative pressure on the markets. Pay attention to the Retail Sales numbers this Friday - 8:30am ET. 
 
The following announcements will provide insight into the fight against inflation. 
 
PPI - Producer Price Index – Wednesday 8:30am ET
CPI - Consumer Price Index – Thursday 8:30am ET
55 companies report this week including: BlackRock, Delta Air Lines, Pepsi, Infosys, Wells Fargo, Walgreens, Alcoa Corp, Taiwan Semiconductor, UnitedHealth Group, and more. On Friday, we hear from financial firms such as JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, US Bancorp, and PNC Financial. Historically, financial firms have done really well in a rising rate environment, however we haven’t seen this lately. Let’s see if this week changes anything.
