Meet Your OTA Instructors - Scott McCormick

Scott

How did you become a trader?

I began my career in the year 2000 with Charles Schwab and Co. as a Registered Representative and eventually became a Financial Consultant.  It was during this time that I became involved in the Chartered Market Technicians program (joined CMT in 2001, and was awarded the designation in 2008) and identified a passion for short term swing trading of options on stocks.

How long have you been with OTA, and why do you teach?

August 2020 represents my tenth anniversary of becoming an instructor with OTA.  Becoming/Being an instructor represented/represents an opportunity for me to share my passion for the market with others that were/are interested in learning the skill of trading.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

Professionally the proudest moments were Passing Series 7 and earning my Chartered Market Technician Designation. Personally, it is being able to do something that I love every day.

What is one thing no one would guess about you?

I used to work part-time on the weekends as a Lifeguard at one of the Walt Disney World Resorts called the Wilderness Lodge, and eventually became a member of Lake Patrol.  I love listening and dancing to House music whenever I can.  I know my way around the kitchen, grill, and smoker.
