Employees of brokerage houses, institutions and individuals in the UAE and other AGCC states can learn the science and emotions involved in active
trading and investing in the local and international markets through educational training courses.
These courses are being offered by US-based Online Trading Academy Dubai (OTA) which yesterday launched its first professional financial training
centre in the UAE established at the Knowledge Village, Dubai.
"In addition to its regular training, starting September 2005, OTA will address local needs with specially designed courses and training individuals
actively investing and trading in the UAE stock markets as well as by offering seminar series and consultancy services for expatriates wishing to gain
knowledge of the UAE stock markets," Al Shahar, president of OTA, who flew in from the US to attend the launch of his company, said.
Christian Reed, senior commercial counsellor, US Embassy, Abu Dhabi, said on the occasion that OTA was the world's largest independent financial
education academy. Welcoming OTA training centre to "the booming UAE market" he expressed his confidence that it will do well here.
"In our increasingly globalised world, the demand for quality international education programmes is skyrocketing. OTA has rightly seized that
opportunity, and we look forward to helping it flourish here," Peter Neisuler, public affairs officer, US Consulate, said.
California-based OTA's traders education courses will be expanded after Dallas and Dubai to 100 cities worldwide over the next four years under its
franchised operations. "This rapid expansion is needed to meet the burgeoning growth of active investors and traders desiring to take control of their
assets by learning the financial literacy and the very risk-management oriented skills of Active Investing and Trading in the global markets," Shahar
OTA's Dubai managing director Bahram Khadavi said, "Opening in the UAE was an easy choice given the growing population of self-directed investors and
traders alike who want to learn the skills necessary to succeed in today's market climate without broker dependency. Trading has fast become a universal
concept. In all countries, we seem to be moving closer and closer to Online Trading and 'global' markets from home-based broadband computers through the
Khadavi quoted Bear Stearns & Company, Inc., as saying in its August 2004 report that there is a core group of active individual "Semi-Pro" traders.
The report indicates that these customers trade more than 25 times per day and account for 78 per cent of daily online trades and 32 per cent of daily
combined NYSE and NASDAQ share volume, he said.
OTA's two-day courses include training for active investors with in-depth technical analysis, basic and advanced training in FOREX trading, basic and
advanced training in options trading, training in oil futures trading, training in E-Mini trading, training in commodities trading. It also offers three
day basic and four day advanced training in equities trading. Complete CD-ROM educational series combines education to consumer and education to business.
The online courses include tele-mentoring (5 day onsite or 10 weeks telecom/web). The company's e-book/video store, co-branded with Traders Library, has
over 2,500 independent titles by industry experts. It also produces customised education for brokers, dealers and financial companies. The fees ranges
from the starting Dh1,000 to Dh35,000 for a complete package of 11 weeks.
