Course Description

This 2-day introductory course is for the trader who has some trading background in equities and technical analysis but wants to understand Commodity Futures.

We will concentrate on both the fundamental and technical peculiarities of trading these highly leveraged instruments. The course runs 2 days.

You will learn:

• Introduction to Commodity Futures
• How to Trade Electronically with Direct Access
• Obtain Great Leverage of as much as 10 : 1 or higher
• Limit and Lock Limit Moves
• Introduction to Spread Trading
• What to ask before Opening a Brokerage Account
• Psychology for Futures Trading
• Risk & Money Management Skills

Commodities Class MaterialsEach student will receive a binder with all class slides printed in color, with room to write notes. Also included are class handouts and any additional material the instructor provides for the course, so student can easily refer to all class material after the class.

II. Margin / Leverage
III. Selling Short in the Futures Markets
IV. Limit Moves
V. Volume and Open Interest (Unique to Futures Markets)

I. Largest Exchanges and their products offered
II. Functions of Clearing Firms, Exchanges and Brokers
III. Roles of the National Futures Association (NFA) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)
