Online Trading Academy’s Financial Literacy Quiz to Test Money Knowledge Among Consumers

Investing and Trading Education Center Tests Personal Finance Knowledge with an Online Quiz in honor of Financial Literacy Month

Irvine, CA, April 1, 2014 - Online Trading Academy developed a financial literacy quiz to test the knowledge of the everyday investor and promote financial education.

In 2004, the United States Senate designated April as Financial Literacy Month. This was done in an effort to highlight the importance of financial literacy and educate Americans on how to establish and maintain healthy financial habits. Four out of five Americans cannot correctly identify the type of account that should be opened to trade stocks online. According to an InvestingNerd 2013 Investment Literacy Survey, over a quarter of individuals do not invest online. 13.6 percent are uncertain as to how to get started while 12.8 percent do not invest online because of risk aversion.

In the U.S., 32 percent of Americans stated that they do not have a retirement plan other than Social Security. 62 percent of the self-described “working class” portrayed their incomes as falling behind the cost of living, according to a 2011 Pew Research Center study. The financial literacy quiz developed by Online Trading Academy includes ten questions and tackles the most common personal finance issues: budgeting, mortgage, and retirement planning. Individuals who take the quiz receive their results to help them better evaluate their financial literacy. Participants are also given the opportunity to register for a free Power Trading Workshop as a first step towards taking control of their financial literacy.
