Online Trading Academy Survey Shows That Majority of Near-Retirees Desire an Investing and Trading Education

Survey Results Provide Insights Into Why Individuals are Seeking a Financial Education

Irvine, CA, January 24, 2013 - A recent survey conducted by Online Trading Academy reported that 78 percent of respondents expressed a desire for an investing and trading education. The majority of respondents, 97 percent, indicated that they would prefer to self-manage their investments if they could learn the skill.

The results of the survey showed that individuals were seeking solutions to maintain long-term capital and wealth, as well as generate short-term income.

“Our goal is to help our students’ financial goals become reality,” said Eyal Shahar, Founder and President of Online Trading Academy, “Having a better understanding of what our students desire to learn helps us to structure our curriculum to meet those needs. This enables us to continue living our mission of transforming lives worldwide through exceptional trading and investing education.”

Respondents placed great value in trading education, mostly among the near-retiree demographic. Participants also indicated a sentiment that a trading education allowed traders to succeed even in less than ideal economic conditions, since the sample respondents have a positive outlook on their trading and investing results.

The survey was delivered to participants in January 2013. Online Trading Academy received nearly 2,300 responses from their global network of investors, traders, and graduates. The trading and investing experience levels varied among survey respondents. Close to half of respondents, 44 percent described themselves as active investors making several trades per month.

A bulk of respondents were between the ages of 30 to 64-years-old; 34 percent in the 30-49 age range and 39 percent in the 50-64 age range. 40 percent of those who participated in the survey had a graduate degree or higher, which indicated that the profile of the typical trader in the survey is educated, actively involved in investments, and upwards of 50 years of age.
