Shamus O'Connor

Shamus studied business at the University of Massachusetts and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing in 1992. He moved from Massachusetts to Dallas, TX to pursue a career in the brokerage business.

He entered the brokerage business in 1996, where he earned his NASD series 7 and 63 licenses. He only spent a small time as a broker due to his dislike of the industry. This is where he gained a passion for helping people to make their own financial decisions. He entered into trading the equity markets for his own personal accounts in 1997. He is self taught in trading equities but specializes in options and strategies.

In 2001, he decided to use his knowledge of trading and the brokerage business to help people. He began touring the country educating individual investors on how to trade the equity, options and foreign currency markets. He has been a professional lecturer involved with educating people on how to become successful in these markets since 2001.

He decided to join Online Trading Academy in 2007 because of the quality of education provided compared to other educational institutions that he has worked for in the past. When not teaching classes, he is actively trading his own account. He takes a "keep it simple" approach to trading and presents in a manner that makes difficult concepts easy for anyone to understand. He enjoys teaching classes because it reinforces discipline and rules in his own personal trading. Shamus believes trading is a constant learning process and he personally gains a lot of lessons from students in every class. He gets a lot of satisfaction out of helping people trade successfully for themselves and gain financial independency.

As of today (6 months), I am up 36.5%, annualized at 73%. I'm not doing a lot of day trading. Mainly swing trades, holding them a day or two.
